14 Kids ~ Who let this woman b ecome a mother?

This woman, who my eldest refers to as octomom, just had 8 babies via invetro. Are you kidding me? She said in a recent article that she plans to use student loans to raise these babies. This pisses me off to no end.

Since I work in education and see on a daily basis the need for student loans I am completely floored that she thinks this is a way out. Who is going to watch 14 kids while she goes to school? Who is going to pay back these loans? You can bet your sweet ass it won't be octomom.

I can't believe she was so irresponsible. What's more, I can't believe the media is perpetuating her fantasies with all the coverage.

  1. I couldn't agree more.
I think it's because we as a society don't have time
to deal with issues like this woman individually.
Hopefully time and chance will catch up with her.
    She's disgusting.

We'll miss you Old Man

This is Romeo, beloved kitty of Warren. Yesterday Warren IM'd me to tell me he was ready to put the old man down. Romeo had been ill with Kidney failure for about two years. He'd stopped eating and drinking the last few days. Well, I called the vet and made the appointment. It was a hugely emotional day for all of us, especially Warren. He'd had Romeo for 16 years. They'd seen a lot together. We went to the vets. They had a nice room for us with it's own outside exit. That was nice because we could leave straight out of that room and not see anyone. I'd never witnessed this before so I was really sort of shocked at how quickly it was done. Warren held him the entire time. I guess I expected they would take him away to do it. We will miss you old man. I kind of wonder why we don't do something like this for humans. It seems much more humane that the suffering we go through to get to the end.

No Witty Title Here

I'm not even sure I have anything witty to say. We had a really lovely morning, nice and quiet and relaxing. We had to take Hayley to get science project supplies and then stopped for lunch at Johnny Carino's. Hayley begged and pleaded for us to take her to the movies. We ended up seeing Marley and Me. It was a fabulously lighthearted, feel good movie....up until the last 20 minutes or so. It was just a bit too emotional for me, at least. Five tissues, at least. I'm still heart palpitating on a daily basis, although not as much as I did the first week. I'll have to get back to you on other stuff, because, quite frankly, I just can't think of anything to write.

Thoughts

For some reason I've been thinking about people from my past lately. I'm sure it's a rather melancholy thing we are all want to do from time to time. I was doing a bit of 'stalking' on my space, just to see what a former friends former boyfriend was up to. Jodi sort of went off the deep end in about 2003, left her husband of nearly 20 years, hooked up with an old high school flame. The got together, broke up, got together, broke up, etc, until she finally turned up pregnant at the age of about 40 ish something. OUCH. Well, she stopped speaking to me and I guess I wonder what she's up to. I wonder a lot about Simon, too. The way he just 'disappeared' still bothers me. But, in being realistic, had he not just vanished, I wouldn't be where I am today. So, I guess I should thank him, not just for leaving, but for the years we spent together. I know that it was all just a journey, incredible at times, but a journey to lead me to where I am now.
